Turboprops
Turboprops are propeller aircraft with a turbine engine propulsion system. The advantages of turbine-driven propellers over piston engines are high reliability, a nearly continuous power output at all altitudes, and smoother running. Turboprops are very economic and can land on particularly short runways of smaller airports due to their blade pitch (reverse thrust). Turboprop aircraft operate at a lower speed than their jet-propelled equivalents and are typically used for flight distances of less than 2 hours.
